Bodrum, the southern most major holiday town of Mediterranean and Aegean Coast of Turkey , is the center of attraction of the whole region. It is famous both among Turkish and foreign travelers.

The population jumps from 50,000 people to more than half a milllion during summer time. This small village was first made known 30 years ago by the "the fisherman of Halicarnassos", poet Cevat Sakir Kabaagacli.

An impressive medieval castle built by the knights of Rhodes guards the entrance to Bodrum''s dazzling blue bay,in which the Agean and the Mediterranean Seas meet.The town''s charm is well-known,attracting a diverse population vacationers who stroll along its long palm-linet waterfront, while elegant yachts crowd the marina.

Situated on the slopes of Mendos Mountain, Fethiye was established on top of ancient Telmessos on the shores of the Gulf of Fethiye. For this reason, the majority of the ruins have remained under this quaint district.

 The city does not go back further than the 6th century B.C. On the slope of the hill on the W is a rock tomb with Lycian inscriptions which has been well-preserved. There is a frieze found inside the tomb, which belongs to the 4th century B.C., that has 21 dancing female figures.

As this quaint district, which is surrounded by green pine forests, was established directly over the ancient city of Phychos we do not have much information about the ancient site, However, from what we gather from a certain inscription.
